Okay. Yeah. The game was lying. Maya was the maiden. The fight against the hag was kinda cool. The CG scene was kinda cool. I was asked a question and I disagreed with every response option they gave me. Guess that's just my western sensibilities talking. Next chapter! Another lens?! Really?! Inversion lens... use it on Maya to make her the color of the woman in black... which triggers... something... I guess they unite inside the book. I go in there... I fight Maya... Maya begs me for help... I fight Maya... and then I have to fight both Mayas in a final battle which has three life bars... and on the final life bar the timing to interrupt attacks becomes irritatingly precise. To be fair, this boss gauntlet is a lot of fun. The most fun this game has given me so |
far. It's just a little frustrating when the game trains you how to block an enemy attack (in this case I'm specifically referring to the fireball attack) and then changes the timing on your last challenge. It breaks consistency and kind of punishes you for learning what they taught. It takes me 3 tries to finally beat this challenge.
Really weird CG and credits. Story wasn't great, but it gave me an excuse for a well designed boss battle, which made it feel more narratively satisfying than it really was.
So then the game has a second campaign, a bunch of challenges, games, and unlockables. But I can discuss those in the review proper.
