These chapters are extremely short. Well, the darkness lens had three uses in the next chapter. Find a ghost in the shadow, see a page under ink spots, and to reveal a hidden ghost during combat. The usefulness of this lens as a gameplay mechanic, and the way they made it feel useful even when it really did nothing just makes the mishandling of the purple lens stand out even more. Also, at the end of this chapter I got ANOTHER LENS! The Restoration Lens does exactly what it sounds like, it restores photos. So all the photos that had holes and rips in them I can finally see. This is the kind of investigation I'd been waiting the whole game for, but it's still only doing it by holding my hand. |
Well, the woman in black is looking for Maya. That ends the second chapter of this entry.
The game reveals all its secrets. Another ritual gone wrong story. They make me use the purple lens again, just to remind me how useless it really was. But then I have a spirit combat which is interrupted by the woman in black, which is a cool break from the formula they'd already established.
Okay... based on the dialogue of the woman in black, the villagers, and the crone I believed Maya was the maiden who ran away... but then the game explicitly states that the woman in black is the maiden...
Now I'd been thinking for quite a while now that Maya and the woman in black are connected. They're inverse colors for one thing. So now either the game is lying to me in an attempt to maintain the charade for a moment longer, or I'm completely wrong about what's happened so far.
