It has been very difficult to pull myself away long enough to write this blog entry... Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 is insanely engaging. The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is as rewarding as a turn based RPG has ever been, the classic mode has so many character options, and story mode is full of delightful characters whose quest I am earnestly invested in. As much as I thought I loved Etrian Mystery Dungeon and Etrian Odyssey Untold, this game goes miles beyond. |
This game has 13 classes (14 with optional $2 DLC which unlocks the story mode class Highlander from Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl) as opposed to the 9 available in Millennium Girl. It's difficult to choose a favorite. Of the new additions, I'm particularly fond of the Beast class and War Mage class.
I really like the changes to the boost system, especially in regards to the story mode protagonist. I already stated my love of the multiple save files (the single save file of Millenium Girl was my biggest irritation regarding that game. I'd like to play BOTH modes please). I was so happy when a treasure chest icon I placed changed appearance to designate that I had already opened it, another feature that I felt was NOTICEABLY missing from Millennium Girl. I love the idea of trading grimoire stones using QR codes! The only thing that kinda bugged me was the "start battle" confirmation every turn. I completely understand why they implemented it, but I find it a tad annoying.
